An Advocacy Skills Course that is Psychologically Informed and Practice‑Based

This advocacy course is grounded in insights from psychological sciences and focuses on developing core advocacy skills that transfer across forums, roles, and disciplines. The course equips you with adaptable techniques that enhance effectiveness in courtroom advocacy, professional negotiations, regulatory hearings, policy advocacy, and presenting your case to decision-makers in any context.

The course is built on research from cognitive psychology, communication science, and decision‑making. Participants learn what is required to influence understanding, judgment, and credibility; how people process information; and how advocates can structure arguments, oral submissions, and questioning to maximise clarity, persuasion, and ethical impact. These foundational principles allow advocates to perform effectively across diverse scenarios, not just rehearsed or familiar ones.

A key strength of the course is that it is designed, developed, and delivered by multidisciplinary experts with extensive experience teaching advocacy to a wide range of audiences. The training team brings together expertise across law, psychology, education, and applied professional practice, ensuring that advocacy techniques are evidence‑based, pedagogically sound, and practically effective. This multidisciplinary perspective enables participants to understand not only what works in advocacy, but why it works.

The course is practice‑based. Participants engage in a series of structured practical exercises that simulate real advocacy challenges, including oral submissions, questioning, and responding dynamically to interventions or resistance. Each exercise is followed by detailed, constructive feedback aimed at refining technique and building confidence.

The course is tailored to individuals, and so it is suitable for anyone wishing to develop advocacy skills, regardless of prior experience or career stage. Training is adapted to each participant’s level, goals, and professional context, making the course equally valuable for aspiring advocates, early‑career practitioners, and experienced professionals seeking to refine or refresh their advocacy approach.

Digitally vs. on Campus/ at Venue

The course is available to be taken online with live tutoring and at clients’ offices.

From January 2020, we have held numerous courses on advocacy and public speaking on Teams/Zoom, as well as on campus. The outcome, in terms of skills and knowledge gained, have been the same. In terms of enjoyment, those who experienced the training on both, Zoom and Campus – many have preferred on Zoom.

With this in mind, to keep the prices down – paying for venue would raise training prices significantly – we are offering the training either digitally on Zoom/Teams or at clients’ venue.
